The end of the day is very quiet at Swartswood lake. Especially in the winter. Taken with my iPhone, cropped and tweaked using Photoshop Touch for the iPad.

I took this photo about two weeks ago when we still had snow on the ground. With the temperatures this week, it has all melted and everything is a soggy mess.

The light was super flat when I took this so I punched it up a bit with Topaz plug ins.

Inspiration Ahead

Now that we all realize we need new calendars, it’s still not too late to make some New Year’s resolutions. I’d like to nominate some of these ideas for your consideration. They are all aimed at making you a better photographer by next year.

1. Set some goals for your photography. Decide you will attend at least two workshops, or make a personal photo book project, or create a new portfolio, or learn how to print your own work, etc. Goals drive success.

2. Try to get some of your photography published. Whether it’s self-published, or published on someone else’s blog, or in a magazine, try to get something published. It will drive you to work harder on your craft and your vision. (2013 Photographer’s Market
is a great resource for those of you who want to go down this road.)

3. Build (or upgrade)…

The bald eagle has made a comeback across our country, thanks to many different conservancy efforts. This bald eagle may have migrated southward to NY from Canada for the winter. We begin seeing them in January and, except for the residents, they vanish back to Canada sometime in March.

Are you being held back from your dreams by fear? Your dream doesn’t have to be photography-it could be anything at all.  There’s a million reasons to not try and pursue your dreams, but none of them are  valid.  It’s hard to turn off that negative self talk (especially if you are female), but you must learn to ignore it.

You could never prove so many people’s prejudice against pit bulls by this dog. She was sweet and playful. My friend also has a pit bull that is very sweet and extremely smart.

Too many people write this breed off because of the actions of their OWNERS! No matter the breed, when a dog doesn’t behave or is vicious, look at their owner-that is where the fault usually lies.

So, don’t judge a book by its cover
